Governor Brian Kemp celebrated the opening of the new housing facility in Thomasville, Georgia, with Walmart executives. Today, Walmart announced the completion of a $1.5 billion box-ready facility, the largest of its kind in the US. The new facility at 121 Roseway Drive in Thomasville will distribute boxes to more than 500 Walmart stores in the Southeast, including in Georgia, Alabama and Florida.
In connection with the opening of the facility, Walmart has awarded grants of $7,500 to local nonprofits in Thomasville and other local businesses in the region. Walmart is proud to support local businesses in Georgia by spending over $20 billion on suppliers in Georgia in FY19 and supporting 136,844 jobs at suppliers in Georgia. During FY19, both Walmart and the Walmart Foundation contributed more than $1.5 billion in local charitable contributions and $2.2 billion to local nonprofits across Georgia. As part of Walmart's commitment to its suppliers, which ends in fiscal 2019 and safeguards nearly 136 and 844 supplier jobs, the company has spent more than $20 billion at its Georgia stores and supported more than 100,000 local jobs and more than 1,200 Georgia businesses across the state.
